The 6” long 43 ring gauge Jose Piedra Cazadores is a medium-strength cigar and one of the best affordable Cuban cigars on the market. Its flavors of sweet tobacco and soil with hints of cocoa and double roasted coffee are perfect for the novice to introduce their palate to the complexities of earthy Cuban cigars. It comes in a cardboard box of 25 cellophane-covered cigars wrapped in a slightly veiny, well-rolled Colorado wrapper.
The first third has a comfortable draw with barnyard flavors and hints of sweet tobacco and spice; the burn is cool and slow but generally doesn’t require any extra attention throughout the smoking experience.
In the middle third, the flavors intensify and become more leathery with added hints of oak. Those earthy tobacco flavors come to the forefront in the final third, but the Cazadores begin to shift into its sweeter side with added hints of cream, vanilla, and cocoa. The cigar grows in heat toward the end, but it never overpowers.
While this cigar doesn’t have the same flavor complexity as some other Cuban cigar brands, the Cazadores is a great everyday smoke to complement a light meal or a coffee in the morning.
