Smoking a Punch Double Corona
This cigar looks the part in its chocolate-hued wrapper. It’s as hard as a rock in hand and the draw starts a little tight. But it soon opens out, delivering big complexity and power.
Punch cigars tend to be less spicy than other Cubans and the Double Corona is no exception. The first third starts with dark chocolate notes that veer into cherry. Heavy earth undertones feature throughout and the flavors turn darker and more robust in the final third. The smoke remains creamy without excessive harshness.
It’s an immersive smoke and the flavors vary by vintage, while always staying in the medium to full-bodied range.

Punch Double Coronas are superb value for their size. You get almost two hours of burn time, all of it prime Vuelta Abajo tobacco. They age exceptionally, which is good because not everybody can fire through a Double Corona every day. They will gain their fuller flavors after two years of aging.

Accidentally Enjoyable I received these in error when I had ordered a different Double Corona sample pack. Somewhat disappointed I contacted Swiss Cuban. Their customer service was excellent and in short time they offered to send the correct cigars at no charge allowing me to keep the ones received. As I had paid the exorbitant Australian Import Duty, I couldn't let them go to waste so gave one a try. Turned out an enjoyable long burning stick with medium body and a fair bit of strength.
